Biography
Mr Jesse Young is an early career researcher specialising in psychiatric epidemiology. He is currently employed as a Research Fellow in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at The University of Melbourne and holds adjunct positions at the School of Population Health at the University of Western Australia (UWA) and at the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI – Curtin University). In seven years’ experience in the substance use and mental health research field, he has held previous positions at the Centre for Health Services Research (UWA), NDRI, a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre, and the Centre for Addictions Research of British Columbia (Canada). He received three academic awards as the top graduate in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at UWA and was one of fifty international post-graduates invited to present at the Y-mind School of Advanced Science for the Prevention of Mental Health Disorders, receiving a travel and accommodation grant from the Sao Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP). Since 2013, Mr Young has attracted over 386,000 (AUD) in competitive grant funding: 135,000 as a Chief Investigator and 251,000 as an Associate Investigator. He has authored a MPH dissertation, federal reports and 20 peer-reviewed publications, with a further 2 articles currently under review in international journals. Additionally, Mr Young has been an invited seminar speaker and presented at international conferences to disseminate his research findings.
