Biography
Professor Kate Wright is Dean of the Graduate Research School in and has responsibility for leadership and management of research training across the university.

Kate obtained an Honours Degree in Geology and a PhD in Mineral Physics from University College London, UK. Prior to moving to Australia, she was a Royal Society University Research Fellow, at the University of Manchester and at the Royal Institution in London. On moving to Perth in 2004, Kate continued her research at Curtin University as Professor of Mineral Chemistry and in 2010 took on the role of Dean of Research for the Faculty of Science and Engineering. She was appointed as Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Training later in 2011. Kate took on her current role at the University of Western Australia in March 2016.

My research interests centre around the study of microscopic defects in minerals and their influence on macroscopic behaviour.
