Biography
Megan is a plant scientist. Her key area of research is pasture systems and is driven by the need for profitable systems with good environmental credentials. One prominent area of research focus is the development of phosphorus-efficient pastures through improving the ability of pasture legumes to take-up phosphorus from the soil. Investigation of rhizosphere processes, root morphology and root physiology has played a central role in this research. Megan is also interested in the phosphorus nutrition of crops including sweet potato and of Australian native species which are adapted to very low phosphorus soils. Megan has long researched the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agricultural systems. Currently, Megan is an ARC Future Fellow and is investigating plant adaptation to fluctuating phosphorus supply across the molecular to whole-plant scale.
