Publications
Steven is the author of two critically acclaimed books.

In 2009 he published Screenwriting: History, Theory, and Practice (Wallflower/ Columbia University Press), which helped break new ground in the academic study of screenwriting.

In 2013 he published Objectivity in Journalism (Polity Press), a landmark study of this key concept.

In 2016 he edited the collection Ethics in Screenwriting: New Perspectives (Palgrave Macmillan), which sought to create the basis of a new approach to the discussion of media ethics and screenwriting research.

He has published articles and essays in numerous peer-reviewed journals in Australia and internationally.
