Research that has had a major impact? (& useful links if relevant)

The following publication has been cited 81 times since 2001.

“Modelling Sustainable Development: A Multicriteria Decision Conferencing Approach” (with M A Quaddus), Environment International, Vol. 27/2-3, 2001, pp. 89-95.

Current (2016) impact factor of Environment International is: 5.56

My edited book entitled International Migration into the 21st Century: Essays in Honour of Reginald Appleyard, London: Edward Elgar Publishing Limited, 2001 was favourably reviewed by eminent scholars in the area of migration and development. For example, a distinguished development economist and author of the well celebrated rural-urban migration model (popularly known as the Todaro model) Michael P Todaro made the following comment while reviewing the book in Population and Development Review (Vol. 27, No. 4, 2001, pp. 814-15),:

“This volume of papers is among the best to appear in the prolific literature on international migration published during the past two decades. It should be of value both to migration specialists and to readers interested in this increasingly critical area of population research”

Another reviewer, Anthony H Richmond who reviewed three books on international migration for the Journal of Refugee Studies (Vol. 14, No. 3, 2001, p. 332) observed,

“Of the three books reviewed here, International Migration into the 21st Century is the most scholarly and original in its contribution to migration and refugee studies”.

Similarly, A Handbook of Sustainable Development Planning: Studies in Modelling and Decision Support (co-editor: M.A. Quaddus), London: Edward Elgar Publishing Limited, 2004, was also received favourably by experts in this field. For example, M. Grochowski wrote in Geographia Polonica (vol. 78, No. 2, Autumn, 2005, p. 130) that the book

“is perfect for readers in different professions who deal with planning and development management. It contains interesting theoretical considerations, provokes discussion, and provides new perspectives for the analysis of sustainable development processes”.

The first edition of the book was sold out which bears the testimony of the popularity of the book. Consequently, the second and revised edition of this volume has been published by the same publisher in 2013.
