Teaching
TEACHING INITIATIVES

•Senior Staff member to the Barcelona Studio (2003) ALVA International Program and developing a working relationship with the Instituto Metapolis (Architectura Avanzada) and organizing a party of visiting critics from the UK.

•Elective Studies, the development of a unit (Publicatione inArchitecture) which focuses on a wide range of publishing techniques both digital and traditional, related to architectural and design publications.

•Initiated the beginnings of a new 1st year computer course (Future Digtal media), a lecture course drawing on a wide range of professional media expertise and introducing Archicad to the School 1996.

•Design Studios ‘ourney into the Australian Landscape’ Uluru (Ayers Rock) [joint venture with RMIT School of Interior Design], Eyre Bird Observatory (Australian Bight), Nanga Station (Shark bay) and Pinnacles Dessert.

•Weekend workshop: Aimed at digital media skills – 2D/3D particularly in relation to digital imaging, the integrative capacity of computers and their value in early design process, programs included Alias Sketch, Amapi, QuarkExpress, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator with intention of developing a publication unit within the School and establishing and elective unit.

•Developed architectural design programs focusing on process, promoted team teaching and built bridges to a range of expertise both within and outside the School.

•Curtin University of technology: Developed a strong program of international visiting fellows and exhibitions over a period of ten years.

•Developed design programs as coordinator of 5th year and 1st degree course that maximized on the above.

•Visiting Fellow (The Graduate School Pedro Geddes Studio). The Pedro Geddes Studio covered many scales of project, designed to introduce students to design development including a study of large city spaces around Convent Garden Squares and intersections and the detailed design of a toy shop.

•Barcelona Studio (Spain) studied the city and its architecture at first hand, contact with local students and architects in practice.

•Following development work in WA on solar houses (with Quark Pty Ltd) assisted with development of Architectural Association, Graduate School Energy program (with Simos Yannas)
