Biography
Andrew R. Timming is Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at the University of Western Australia Business School and Visiting Professor of Management at the Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam. He is an expert in employee selection decision-making and draws primarily from the fields of organisational, experimental and evolutionary psychology and economic sociology in his research. His main area of research centres around the impact of physical appearance on one’s success (or failure) in the labour market. In this context, he examines how job applicant attractiveness and unattractiveness influence employer decision-making. He also researches employee involvement and participation in organisational decision-making and has an emerging interest in workplace mobbing within so-called ethical organisations. He is Associate Editor of Human Resource Management Journal.

His research regularly features in the international news media, including, among others, The Economist, Financial Times, The Guardian, Washington Post, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, BBC News, ABC News, Huffington Post, The Independent, Bloomberg, RT, The Spectator, etc. He is mostly known for his research on tattoos in the workplace.

He has worked at UWA Business School since May 2017. He teaches the Social Psychology of Work at the undergraduate level and Introduction to Human Resource Management at the postgraduate level.

He welcomes applications from PhD students in any area of human resource management and is especially keen to supervise in the areas of recruitment and selection, diversity and discrimination and unconscious bias.
