Biography
I have a PhD in Late Medieval/Early Modern Social History from the University of Western Australia(UWA). I also have a Graduate Diploma in Education from UWA and BA Hons.(First Class) from the University of Liverpool, UK. Before commencing my PhD in 2010, I was a History and Humanities teacher in high schools in Perth.
Key research
My education research is focused on the History of Education and History Education in secondary schools as well as in tertiary institutions. I am also an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Humanities at UWA, where my research focuses on children and child-rearing practices in England from the sixteenth century onwards.

Roles, responsibilities and expertise
I am the Humanities and Social Sciences Coordinator (secondary)at the Graduate School of Education. I also coordinate the Master of Teaching Interventions for Learning unit, as well the undergraduate broadening unit, Education for a Global Society.
Memberships
I am a member of the Historical Association (UK); History Teachers Association WA; Australia and New Zealand Medieval and Early Modern Society; Perth Medieval and Renaissance Group.
Honours and awards
Faculty of Arts Teaching Excellence Award Early Career Researcher 2013.
Teaching
I teach on the Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum units and various other units for the Masters of Teaching and Graduate Diploma of Education. I also teach on undergraduate broadening units offered by the Graduate School of Education.
Current projects
I am currently undertaking research with current Master of Teaching HASS pre-service teachers to explore what know, understand, and believe is important about Australia's past. The findings from this research may provide insights that can assist in HASS teacher preparation programs, and/or contribute to future discussions about the shape of the national History curriculum and the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline HASS syllabus.
