Roles, responsibilities and expertise
The CMCA is a core facility located at the UWA Crawley campus and at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research at the QEII Medical Centre providing high-end microscopy, imaging and analytical instrument facilities to the research community in WA and beyond. I am on the senior management team and report to the Centre Director. I am responsible for maintaining the smooth running of all equipment and facilities and managing the preparations and installations of new equipment acquisitions. The CMCA operates state-of-the-art analytical tools across multiple sites in application areas including geological, physical and biomedical sciences and manages instrument assets valued at over $40M. We provide training and access to the instruments for both publicly funded researchers and to industry. The CMCA is the West Australian node of the NCRIS funded Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility (AMMRF) which has other nodes at the University of Sydney, UNSW, UQ, Adelaide, RMIT. CMCA is also the West Australian node for the National Imaging Facility (NIF) and Metabolomics Australia (MA).
