Further information

Join your newly elected 2014 UWAHS committee and other members at an informal get together to hear Jenny Bevan provide a short presentation on Edward Sydney Simpson.

UWA’s first graduate, Edward Sydney Simpson, achieved his geology degree (with First Class Honours) as early as 1914 because of credits for appropriate units taken during his engineering degree at Sydney University. He was also UWA's very first Doctor of Science, awarded in 1919 for his ground-breaking DSc thesis: The Minerals of Western Australia. Find out more about his life and the important contribution made by UWA's first graduate to the State of Western Australia.
