Further information

Join your 2014 UWAHS Committee, UWA Historical Society Members and guests at an informal gathering to hear Dr Yow provide a short presentation entitled Internationalisation of UWA – the Chinese Dimension.

Following on from the Colombo Plan, in 1989 the Australian Government responded to the demand for more places for overseas students by allowing tertiary institutions to charge full fees. This opened the doors of Australian Universities to non‐Commonwealth students and started a revolution in Australian international education. Dr Yow’s presentation looks at the Chinese mindset pertaining to education, the technology surge in China and its challenges, and UWA’s current relationships with China, Chinese student enrolments and academic exchange.
