The UWA Historical Society’s Oral History collection started as a project with four oral histories funded from Society resources, and is has been expanded into an ongoing program. The program represents a re-activation of a 1980s initiative which, having been inactive for 20 years, is making up for two decades of lost opportunities to record the stories of UWA people during an era of great change. Our online portal now contains over 200 voices from UWA’s first century, hosted online by the UWA, State Library of WA, and National Library of Australia.
And there is more to be done. We have three oral histories commissioned for 2019 and welcome the opportunity to expand this year's program further.

Membership of the UWA Historical Society costs just $30 (incl GST) per year and the majority of events are free to attend.
There is currently a vacancy on the UWA Historical Society Management Committee. If you have an interest in the history of the University of Western Australia, please contact us so that we can share this interest and help build and retain an important historical record.
